He ATO has released the 2014-15 Taxation Statistics, revealing data on Australia’s most charitable individuals, highest earners and the richest postcodes.
The latest report shows that with an average taxable income of $189,293, the postcode with the highest average taxable income was 2027, which includes the Sydney suburbs of Darling Point, Edgecliff, HMAS Rushcutters and Point Piper.
Similar to previous years, surgeons topped the list of occupations with the highest average taxable income of $377,044, followed by anaesthetists, internal medicine specialists and financial dealers.
The most charitable region in 2014-15 was New South Wales, with more than 1.46 million people claiming a total of more than $1 billion, which is an average donation of $295.60 for each NSW resident who lodged a tax return.
The 2014-15 Taxation Statistics report provides a user-friendly overview of income tax returns for individuals, companies, superannuation funds, partnerships and trusts.
The statistics also include data from other parts of the taxation system such as GST activity statements for the 2015-16 financial year.
